Checking Student Amazon Searching
Amazon Checks
Insure that the information in the Amazon record matches the order. If there are discrepancies, search BIP, and Barnes & Noble.com until you find a match. If you find a better match, print and attach that record to the front of the order, and put the order in the box for completed searching of that type. If you don't find a better match, write "Best Match" on the Amazon record, and continue with this procedure.
Search numbered series appearing in the Amazon record that did not appear on the original order using the Series Searching Procedure.
Search Possible Added Volumes if new information appearing in the Amazon record leads you to think it might be an added volume. Use the Possible Added Volume Procedure.
Check for an "Add to Shopping Cart" button.
If the button is present:
write "available per Amazon" on the original BRF and place it in the Complex Editing tray. If the order needs to have a record exported, send it to cataloging instead.
If the "Add to Shopping Cart" button is not present, look for:
Indication that the item is not yet published:
"Pre-Order Now" button,
A statement that the item is not yet published
A publication date in the future
If you find any of those things:
Put Collection Building orders in the NYP tray.
Put Priority orders in the Special Ordering Technician's in-box.
Indication that the item is out-of-print:
A "New and Used" link.
A statement that the item is out-of-print.
If you find either of those things:
Put Collection Building orders in the OP tray.
Put Priority orders in the Special Ordering Technician's in-box.
Amazon Zeros
If the searching was done by a new student, re-do a selection of searching to insure that it was done correctly.
Put them in the Barnes & Noble searching tray.
