Rex Finance

Rex Finance offers a suite of financial reports. The report design was influenced by interviews and focus groups across campus with various stakeholders and users. Some of the reports will look similar to PeopleSoft reports, while others will use the data in PeopleSoft and provide new reports with different features.

Users can only see reports that reflect the prior day’s information from the PeopleSoft system. There is no update functionality in Rex Finance, so users can’t add, delete, or change any of the data using Rex.

Application Examples

PI’s can run reports showing the financial information from their sponsored awards.

Directors or faculty members can check the balances of their DRIF or revolving accounts.

Rex Finance can be used for Department Chairs looking to see if they are on pace with their budget.

Business Managers can use the new payroll reports to check pay and adjustments.

Business Offices and Service Centers can print the detail reports to perform monthly reconciling.

General Understanding

In an effort for accessibility, sometimes Summary reports presents numbers with a different +/- sign than PeopleSoft. Summary reports like the Budget to Actual Summary by Fiscal year report or the Self-Support and Auxiliary reports shows revenue and expense transaction color coded. When a number is shown as green, the user can read that as money coming into their selected department or project. When a number is shown as red, it signifies the amount leaving the selected department or project.

Additionally, the color coded numbers are drillable and can be clicked for more detail.

Data downloads will show the numbers with the same +/- sign as peoplesoft and can be easily downloaded into Excel for Accounting users wish to see information presented in their Natural Account Balance form.
