Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)

What is Satisfactory Academic Progress? UMBC is required to monitor its student’s academic progress to ensure that they maintain a minimum standard GPA and make steady progress toward degree completion. Students who do not meet the SAP requirements may lose their financial aid eligibility.

Frequently Asked Questions about Satisfactory Academic Progress.

If a student fails to meet SAP standards, they will be placed on financial aid restriction. Students on financial aid restriction are not eligible to receive Federal, state, or institutional financial aid.

If a student does not meet SAP standards, they may submit an appeal to be considered for financial aid probation.
