A complete listing of UMBC-supported Generative AI software can be found via the UMBC Software Catalog. This page gives a brief overview of each software option, with links to user documentation, common work flows, and troubleshooting tips.
For access or questions about any of these supported technologies, please submit a descriptive RT Ticket via the “DoIT-AI Tools” Form. Note that some of these supported technologies do not require prior approval, and you can use them for free immediately.
UMBC provides secure access to Gemini, Google’s suite of generative AI models.
Free access to Gemini is provided via your UMBC Google account (login with your UMBC credentials to get started).
Gemini Advanced is available to purchase for Faculty and Staff members by completing a Chargeback Authorization Form.
Gemini supports text, audio, video, images, and files.
UMBC provides secure access to Copilot, Microsoft’s suite of generative AI models.
Free access to Copilot is provided via your UMBC account (login with your UMBC credentials to get started).
Copilot Premium is available to purchase for Faculty and Staff members by completing a Chargeback Authorization Form.
Copilot supports text, images, and files.
UMBC administers and provides access to Open WebUI, a web chat interface that supports multiple of large language models (including Claude, GPT, Gemini, QWEN, etc), allowing you to switch between them as needed.
Free access is offered to UMBC faculty, staff, and students* who request access through an RT ticket.
Faculty and Staff can submit a Chargeback Authorization Form to increase their budget in Open WebUI.
UMBC administers and provides access to the UMBC AI Gateway (LiteLLM), which provides API key access to LLMs. API keys are provided in an OpenAI compatible format.
The AI Gateway provides access to a variety of AI models, allowing you to switch between them as needed.
Direct API Key access is only available to Faculty and Staff through a Chargeback Authorization. You can start this process by submitting a descriptive RT ticket or by directly filling the Chargeback Authorization Form.
