How do I make a Blackboard Collaborate recording public?
Overview
In mid-September 2020, public access to recordings was disabled by by default for new sessions. Only session owners and students enrolled in the course can see the recording. Any links shared to the recording will no longer work when the recording is secure. When public access is off, the recording is secure. If you want to share your recordings with anyone not in a course, you need to make them available to the public.
Tell Me
Go to Collaborate, open the Menu, and select Recordings.
Go to your course and access Collaborate.
Click on the icon (≡) in the upper left corner of Collaborate.
Click on Recordings. You can tell at-a-glance on the recording page if a recording is available to the public or to course members (e.g., students) only.
Find the recording you want to share.
Select the (...) menu on the far right of the recording.
Select the Access menu.
From the dropdown menu, select Public.
After you turn on public access, you can send anyone a link to the recording.
Sharing a Public Link
To allow guests to view recordings, access to the recordings is not restricted and recordings don’t require a password. This means that anybody who has access to the link can watch the recording and can also share the link with others. Please keep this in mind before sharing links of recordings with potentially confidential or otherwise sensitive content.
Go to your Recordings page.
Find the recording you want to share and open the Recording options menu.
Select Copy Link.
Share the public link with anybody.
