How do I send email in my Ultra course?
At this time, you cannot directly send email to your students in an Ultra course. Blackboard Message recipients will receive an email copy of messages sent from Ultra courses.
Note: Selecting "all course members" will not generate an email to the message sender. However, instructors may use "student preview" to create a preview user account. If instructors do not clear the student preview user data, then they will receive copies of announcements and messages that are sent via email.

Click on the Messages link in the upper left navigation of your course.
Click the Add Message icon by clicking the (+) in the upper right corner to create a new Message.
In Recipients field, select All course members to send the Message to the entire course.
Use the first line of your Message to replicate a subject line of your email.
Compose the body of your email in the remainder of the body of your Message.
Check the box to Send an email copy to recipients.
Click SEND.
What students will see
Students will receive an email from you that says "Instructor's Name sent you a new message in Your Course Name"
Ultra Blackboard courses will retain a copy of a MESSAGE sent in your course. Any email you receive from Blackboard appears in your external email inbox, but there is no record of the email from UMBC's perspective. Please keep a copy of important messages in case you need them at a later date.
