  • University of Florida: Proposed Policy on Author Rights and Web Page Promoting the Policy: Each Faculty member grants to the University of Florida nonexclusive permission to make available scholarly articles authored by the Faculty member and to exercise the copyright in those articles. In legal terms, the permission granted by each Faculty member is a nonexclusive, irrevocable, paid-up, worldwide license to exercise any and all rights under copyright relating to each scholarly article, in any medium, and to authorize others to do the same, provided that the articles are not sold. Upon publication of a scholarly article authored by the Faculty member, the University of Florida automatically grants to the Faculty member the right to disseminate the accepted manuscript version of the article in any nonprofit repository at any time.

  • University of Washington: UW Faculty Senate Open Access Policy, Open Access Policy FAQ, Open Access Policy Waiver: Faculty grant to the University a non-exclusive, irrevocable, worldwide license to exercise, and to allow others to exercise, any and all rights under copyright relating to his or her scholarly articles, in any medium, for the purpose of making their articles freely and widely available in an open access repository. This policy does not transfer copyright ownership to the University.

  • Oregon State University: Oregon State University Open Access Policy:  Each Faculty member grants to Oregon State University permission to make available his or her scholarly articles and distribute those articles and to reproduce and distribute those articles for the purpose of open dissemination. In legal terms, each Faculty member grants Oregon State University a nonexclusive, irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide license to exercise any and all rights under copyright relating to each of his or her scholarly articles, in any medium, and to authorize others to do the
    same, provided that the articles are not sold.

  • Penn State–AC02 Open Access to Scholarly Articles: University Researchers grant permission to the University to make available their Scholarly Articles to the public. Specifically, each University Researcher grants an irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, nonexclusive license to exercise any and all rights under copyright relating to each of their Scholarly Articles, in any medium now known or later developed, and to authorize others to do the same for the purpose of making Scholarly Articles widely available to the public (“Open Access License”). This policy does not transfer copyright ownership of Scholarly Articles to the University. Copyright ownership remains with University Researchers, subject to this Open Access License.

  • University of California–UC Presidential Open Access Policy: Each University Author grants to the Regents of the University of California a nonexclusive, irrevocable, worldwide license to exercise any and all rights under copyright relating to each of his or her scholarly articles, in any medium, and to authorize others to do the same, for the purpose of making their articles widely and freely available in an open access repository. This policy does not transfer copyright ownership, which remains with University Authors under existing University of California policy.

  • University of Kansas–Open Access Policy for University of Kansas Scholarship: Each faculty member grants to KU permission to make scholarly peer-reviewed journal articles to which he or she made substantial intellectual contributions publicly available in the KU open access institutional repository, and to exercise the copyright in those articles. In legal terms, the permission granted by each faculty member is a nonexclusive, irrevocable, paid-up, worldwide license to exercise any and all rights under copyright relating to each of his or her scholarly articles, in any medium, and to authorize others to do the same, provided that the articles are not sold for a profit. This license in no way irrevocably interferes with the rights of the KU faculty author as the copyright holder of the work.

  • University of Massachusetts Amherst: University Open Access Policy: Each Faculty member grants to the University permission to make available his or her scholarly articles and to exercise the copyright in those articles. More specifically, each Faculty member grants to the University a nonexclusive, irrevocable, worldwide license to exercise any and all rights under copyright relating to each of his or her scholarly articles, in any medium, provided that the articles are not sold for a profit, and to authorize others to do the same.
