Rush and Priority OP Book Searching

  • Every week, check the status of pending orders (in the Out-of-Print or OSI tray) as well as any new rush orders that have been confirmed by the publisher as out-of-print.

  • Record the date and your initials on the RUSH OP/OSI searching log.

    1. Search AddAllfor the title, author, and ISBN.

      • Please note: We cannot purchase items from Half.com or GlobalBooksandCollectibles.com.au,

    2. Print the page of product details, taking care to get the condition of the book on the printout, and the seller's detailed information.

    3. If not found on AddAll, search Amazon for the title, author, and ISBN. It is okay to order from Amazon sellers for OP books. Click on _ (number) new & used to access this if the item is available.

    4. Print the Amazon product detail page(s) and the Amazon Marketplace page(s) with the price and vendor name visible.

    5. If not found on Amazon, search Amazon Canada for the title, author, and ISBN.

    6. Print the Amazon product detail page(s) and the Amazon Marketplace page(s) with the price and vendor name visible.

    7. If not found on Amazon Canada, search Amazon UK for the title, author, and ISBN.

    8. Print the Amazon product detail page(s) and the Amazon Marketplace page(s) with the price and vendor name visible.

    9. If not found on Amazon UK, search Amazon Germany for the title, author, and ISBN.

    10. Print the Amazon product detail page(s) and the Amazon Marketplace page(s) with the price and vendor name visible.

    11. If not found on Amazon Germany, search Amazon France for the title, author, and ISBN.

    12. Print the Amazon product detail page(s) and the Amazon Marketplace page(s) with the price and vendor name visible.

    13. If the item we are seeking is not available from AddAll or an Amazon vendor, search Google. Try different combinations. The ISBN alone can sometimes bring up relevant records. If this doesn't work, try searching for the title and author.

    14. Print any pages containing product details, taking care to get the condition of the book on the printout if it is used, and the seller's details.

    15. If none of these searches have proved fruitful, try using Google to locate the author's email address. A search of the title and the author's name may bring up a current resume or contact information for the author.

  • If no record is found of the item anywhere, record your searches on the Out-of-Print slip and refile the order in the Out-of-Print or OSI tray.

  • Update the requestor on the status of these orders every 6 months.
