How do I operate a Chromebox/Chromebook?

1. How to Login to your profile on the Chromebox

 a. At the bottom left corner of the Login screen, click "Add Person".

 b. Under “Enter your email”, enter your full UMBC email (username@umbc.edu); and then click “Next” and enter your UMBC password.

2. How to edit documents with Microsoft Office using Office 365 on the Chromebox

 a. Open Google Chrome.

 b. Search for “my.umbc.edu” and sign in if needed. At the upper right hand corner, click on "Apps" and then "Office 365" at the bottom of the drop down menu.

 c. In the Microsoft sign in page, sign in with your full UMBC email (username@umbc.edu)

*You can also launch and use Google Docs, Sheets and Slides from the Chromebox*

3. How to access the Virtual Desktop Environment (VDE)

a. Open Google Chrome and search for "virtual.umbc.edu"

b. For Faculty/Staff select "Log-in to Virtual Staff Desktop"

c. For Students select "Log-in to eLumin GenLab Desktop"

d. Type in your UMBC username and password if/when prompted.

4. How to print documents on the Chromebox through a Pharos print station

 a. Open Google Chrome.

b. Search for “mobileprint.umbc.edu” and then sign in using your UMBC username and password.

 c. At the upper left corner of the new window, upload the document you would like to print. Head to a Print Station and release the job.

5. Logging out of the Chromebox

 a. At the bottom right corner of the screen, click on your account icon ¹; and then click "Sign out" ²

 b. It is extremely important that you Sign Out of your session to protect your information!!
