How do I set up the overall grade in an Ultra course?

The overall grade is a calculated item that you build to show students a running tally of all the items that you grade and post. The Overall Grade calculation supports both points and weight grade calculations.

Tell Me

  1. Access your Ultra course and select the gradebook from the top right menu.



  2. Click the black button that says "Set it up" to set up the overall grade.

  3. Using the setup wizard, select either a points, weighted, or advanced grade calculation. The wizard includes examples of each calculation type.

  4. Once you have selected a points or weighted overall grade calculation, you may expand the gradebook categories, unlink or exclude items within a category, and create category rules. See How do I weight both individual graded items and categories in my Ultra gradebook?

     

  5. The Overall Grade calculation can incorporate Total Calculation Columns from the Gradebook, if desired.

  6. Instructors who have already configured the Overall Grade will see a new tab. This tab supports switching between points and weighted calculations.
