Automated Setup:

Devices running Android 11 or newer:

If your phone is running Android 11 or newer, you will need to follow the steps contained within How do I setup my Android device running Android 11 or newer to connect to the UMBC eduroam wireless network?

Devices running Android 10 or earlier:

Download the Eduroam CAT app from the Google Play store. Follow the on-screen instructions to configure it for your account. When entering your username, be sure to use your entire UMBC email address, ending in "@umbc.edu"

Manual Configuration for older Android devices:

We recommend using the Automated Setup instructions above. These steps are included only in case the automated process can't be used for some reason. These will not work for Android 11.

  8. If option for CA certificate or to Validate Certificate is presented select "Do not validate".

  9. Enter your full UMBC email address (username@umbc.edu, for example) in the Identity field.

  10. Leave the Anonymous Identity field blank.

  11. Enter your myUMBC password in the Wireless password field.

  12. Click Connect.

Note: A sample image shown below.

Once you have connected to the eduroam network, you should remove UMBC Visitor and/or UMBC Campus from your wifi settings, or your device could still try to connect to those networks under some circumstances.

  1. From the menu select "Settings" and go to "WLAN"

  2. Long press the network profile that you want to delete.

  3. Select forget network from the popup that appears and it will delete the network profile.
