Answering Catalog Questions

Problems/Comments submitted through catalogusmai are now being answered by individual institutions instead of ITD.

  • Catalog questions will be e-mailed to the reflist with the subject line "Catalog question/problem/suggestion."

  • Reply to the reflist as well as the patron so we know that it has been answered.

    • If you use "Reply All" the reply will also be sent to ITD - this could be useful for consortia-wide tracking and further refinement of the system.

If the question/comment is related to the patron's account (renewing books, due dates, fines, etc)

  • forward the question to the Circulation department (remember to CC the reflist)

If the patron is reporting a problem with the operation of the catalog

  • check the ITD RX log to see if the problem has already been reported

    • click the "Web OPAC" button to filter reports

    • if a similar problem has been reported and is labeled "closed" you can use that information to answer the patron.

    • if a similar problem has been reported and is not "closed" you can let the patron know that the problem has been reported and is being worked on.

    • if no similar problem has been reported submit an RX so that ITD is aware of the problem. Let the patron know that the problem has been reported and is being worked on.

      • if you get an answer from ITD you can forward that information to the patron (remember to CC the reflist)
