How do I get started with Microsoft CoPilot?

Getting started with Microsoft Copilot could not be easier. Simply navigate to http://copilot.microsoft.com from your preferred browser. From there, you may be asked to verify your school credentials, and after doing so, you will be presented with the app. Prompts can be entered at the bottom of the page (1). Files can also be added to a prompt by clicking the "Add a file" icon (2) on the bottom right side of the prompt bar. After entering a prompt, Copilot will respond, and Microsoft provides a number of ways to interact with and use that response.

Copilot accepts a thumbs up or thumbs down rating for its responses as a way of improving through training. It is important to note that while you are logged in to Copilot with your school account, your chats will not be used to improve the Microsoft models. If you have multiple Microsoft accounts and are unsure which one is currently in use with Copilot, do the following. Hover over the circle with two letters in it in the bottom left of the page (3). This will show the name of the currently logged-in profile. Clicking on this circle will allow you to manage or sign out of the current account as well as add additional accounts. Above that you will find the “Settings” icon where you can adjust things such as the theme, Dark Mode, and password.

At the top of the left side of the page, you will find the "App Launcher" icon (4) from which other apps can be launched such as Microsoft Word or Excel. Under the launcher you will find the following icons: Home - takes you to the home page of your Microsoft 365 Copilot Environment; Copilot - takes you to the Copilot prompt page; Pages - takes you to a notes styles Microsoft app where text and images can be added and edited; Create - takes you to a page of varying templates for the Microsoft 365 suite; OneDrive - takes you to a landing page to manage documents stored in the OneDrive app; and Apps - takes you to a centralized space to access all the available Microsoft apps.

Finally, at the top right of the page are two more icons of note. The “New chat” icon (5) allows you to start a fresh chat interaction, and the “Panel” icon (6) allows you to open a panel on the right side of the screen where you can manage agents as well as past chat interactions.
