Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal Form



Student Role: Below are steps explaining the process of the Satisfactory Academic Progress Appeal form for the role of the Student.

 Initial Information on the Web Forum:

  • The Name and Email associated with your student account at UMBC should automatically populate in the first two text boxes.

  • Once you have completed entering all the information, proceed into DocuSign by selecting the Next button.

Docusign:

  • Once in Docusign click the button labeled Continue to proceed with your form.

  • **If you are not comfortable completing your form at the current moment select the Other Actions button to the right and select an option best fitting your situation. Please do not simply close out of the form. **

  • After you have read through the first part of the form please proceed to select a checkbox that corresponds with the semester you would like to appeal.

  • Next, select the checkbox that matches your reason for appeal.

  • Following this, you will be given two prompts in which you are to explain your extenuating circumstances, and plans for improvement. In both of these text boxes you are limited to 1000 characters.

  • You will then need to attach two documents; an Academic Plan Worksheet as well as an Unofficial Transcript. You are also given the opportunity to attach any additional supporting documentation you would like to add.  

  • Following this you are prompted to initial the SAP Appeals committee criteria and then will be prompted to sign, please sign the form if you agree with all terms and conditions by clicking on the button labeled Sign.

  • Once you have signed the document your role on the document has reached an end.

  • Once you have filled out all fields corresponding to your role proceed to click the finish button the the top right hand corner of the page.
