How do I activate KMS versions of Microsoft Office in Windows?

The activation instructions below are for UMBC owned computers that have KMS versions of Microsoft Office Professional Plus installed (Microsoft 365 and macOS versions of Office are not supported by this activation method). To activate Office, you will either need to be connected to the UMBC campus network or connected to the UMBC VPN if you are using an off-campus internet connection. NOTE: Office won't activate over the UMBC Visitor wireless connection.
Activation instructions for Microsoft Office Professional Plus (all versions):
Right-click the following file and select "Save link as..." to download it: activate_Office.zip
Right-click on the file you downloaded (activate_Office.zip) and select "Extract All" to unzip it.
Once unzipped, open the folder that was created and then right-click on the activation file (active_MS_Office_19.cmd) and select Run as administrator. A command prompt window will appear and scroll through several commands. When it has finished activating Office, press any key to close the command prompt window.
