What is the basic UMBC legacy email (Cyrus) server configuration information?



These settings apply to non-Gmail (legacy Cyrus) accounts.

For configuring one of our supported clients, please see the links below:

If your preferred email program is not one of the supported clients, you may be able to configure it using these basic settings:

  • Username: Your myUMBC ID/username. Please note that your myUMBC ID is case sensitive. Always use lowercase letters.

  • Password: Your myUMBC password

  • Outgoing Mail: smtp.gmail.com Server Security: STARTTLS, port 587

When asked to enter your username for the outgoing server, you will need to enter in your FULL UMBC email address. (yourusername@umbc.edu)

  • Incoming Mail: imap.umbc.edu Enable SSL Port = 993

  • Mail Protocol: IMAP

If you have problems configuring your client, and it is not one of the supported clients listed above, please contact your mail client's customer support department for further instructions.
