Departments, organizations, and special programs may wish to have a dedicated email address for a particular function. Listed in the table below are the preferred options and information about each.

Business Alias | - Mail is sent to an email address (alias) which in turn sends a copy to 1 or more separate user email accounts. Example:SampleAlias@umbc.edu would send mail to user1@umbc.edu, user2@umbc.edu etc.
- User 1 and User 2 can set up their UMBC Gmail account to Send As SampleAlias@umbc.edu
- User 1 and User 2 can set up filters to separate mail sent to SampleAlias@umbc.edu
- One user is assigned as the owner of the alias, and they can add and remove users who will receive a copy of the mail sent to the alias SampleAlias@umbc.edu
| Yes | Submit a ticket via RT requesting a Business Alias be setup. You will be able to add and remove users who access this alias via your account page. - Alias name can be greater than 8 characters

Personal Alias | - Mail is sent to an email address (alias) which in turn delivers it to your primary email account. Example:FirstName.LastName@umbc.edu would send mail to your existing UMBC email account.
- You can setup your UMBC Gmail account to Send As FirstName.LastName@umbc.edu
- You can setup filters to separate mail sent to FirstName.LastName@umbc.edu

Delegated Mailbox | - Real Gmail account is setup SampleMailboxName@umbc.edu
- User 1 & User 2 then have delegated access to this account from their UMBC Gmail account
- Password for SampleMailboxName@umbc.edu is never shared, thus making it secure
