Goals
Proof-of-Concept for spectro-polarimeter Bill Sparks designed
Observe something
Action Items/Things Done
Reattached all port plates to instrument box
Had issue with a few screws on bottom plate
Need to ask Erik to machine new North plate to seal instrument box, absent the star guider
Reattached CMOS Plate
Pointed telescope using Deneb (Focus at ~2035)
Used SharpCap software on data computer to perform fine-adjustments
Used Tools > Focus Assistant > FWHM Measurement
Confirmed pointing by slewing to Vega
Moved to Saturn, recorded cool wiggles and moons (Titan, Enceladus, Helene, Rhea, Mimas)
Slewed back to Deneb so that we could swap CMOS for Spectro-Polarimeter
Slewed to Jupiter to test spectro-polarimeter (Focus ~2609)
Looked at Europa, but could also see Ganymede
Slewed to AM Herc (circularly polarized)
Slewed to HD 23512 (linearly polarized)
Cleaned Up
Notes
SharpCap has A LOT of cool features we should explore
Slaving DFM TCS to Data Computer could allow for automatic focus of scope and gain control of CMOS
Build informative header files (to include stepper motor/telescope info)
Find a better way to secure CMOS to plate
