Observatory Group
4. Spaces
The Observatory Group enjoys access to a few spaces within and on top of the Physics Building. The Control Room (PHYS 433C) is located behind the Physics Department-controlled PHYS 401 Lecture Hall space. The Control Room has two levels, one for telescope control and one for storage (the In-Between). Above the Control Room is the hatch to the Observatory. The Observatory contains the telescope and gives access to the Physics Building Roof.
Access
Access to all of these spaces is controlled by Erik Crowe, the Physics Building Manager. In concert with David House, the Physics Department Lab Specialist, Erik and David keep records of all access permissions and keys. An up-to-date listing of who has access to these spaces is in this Access Google Sheet (Outside Link, requires UMBC login). To request access to any of these spaces, you will need either Dr. Meyer or Roy to submit a ticket for a key request form to David.
