What is the difference between a portal and a full myUMBC account?

Tell Me

Individuals with a Portal account - limited access - will find that they can log in to myUMBC and utilize all of the site's functionality, providing those functions do not need to be linked to an active personal account. Portal accounts are most commonly used by applicants to check their application status.

Functions that require a Full account for access include items such as UMBC Email, Blackboard, Classes & Grades and Billing & Personal Finances. As an example, someone with a "Portal" account could go to myUMBC to read about campus news and events, but they would be unable to utilize email or register for classes. When an active account is elevated to "Full," these items are made immediately available.
