Material and equipment safety

Centered on the "stuff"

  • Identify salvage priorities - see Step 3 of workshop (Add to floorplan)

  • Identify location of formats, example high concentration of books with coated paper in XYZ ranges in Special Collections and on the 5th floor call number N. (Add to floorplan)

  • Location of specialized equipment and contacts for vendor repair/warranty

  • Identify known building weaknesses, example location of previous leaks (Add to floorplan)

  • Prepare vendor list (use BALC and MDPlan) - research consultation by Munters

  • Locate spaces within Library that could be used for low scale recovery work (Add to floorplan)

  • Storage area for disaster supplies that is accessible to building staff (Add to floorplan)

  • Disaster supplies inventory and suggestions for future purchases

  • Compile recovery procedures (use other sources! BALC, dPlan, MDPlan, Lyrasis procedures listings, etc)

  • Salvage recovery training

  • Form recovery team

Presentation and dissemination
  • Editing and compilation of various parts of the disaster plan
