What information can’t I send in email?

UMBC has developed an information classification system with four levels. Information that is classified as Level 0 or Level 1 is suitable to be sent in email.

Passwords or other confidential information should never be sent in an email message.  UMBC will never legitimately request that you send your password to us, or to anyone else, in an email.
