Auto-Dome

Auto-Dome

Initiating

  • Control Computer: Start ASCOM Dome Control Panel application

    • Press "Connect"

    • Select "Slave Dome to Scope"

  • Front Panel:

    • Enable "MTR DRIVER CHASSIS"

    • Enable "DRIVES"

    • Enable "AUTO DOME"

    • Switch "DOME TRACK" from "HOME"

Disabling

  • Disable only after Scope is stowed at Zenith

  • Front Panel:

    • Disable "AUTO DOME" switch (see above)

  • Control Computer:

    • Desselect "Slave Dome to Scope"

Common Problems

  • If the Dome and Scope seem misaligned:

    • If DFMTCS reports the Dome and Scope are in the same positions (Reported "Azimuth")

      • Using handpaddle: Align Dome to Scope while AutoDome is disabled

      • After aligning, navigate to DFM TCS > Telescope > Initialization > Other Positions> "Set Dome Position" and press "Use Telescope Azimuth", then "Apply".

    • If it doesn't

      • Perhaps wait for a bit for the DFM TCS to poll again or try changing the telescope position (aka try again)

  • If the Dome doesn't respond to TCS input:

    • Likely that switch in Dome Control Panel Box (in Dome) isn't set to "REMOTE" position
