Admissions Overview

The Student Administration Admissions Module will replace the existing systems that UMBC is using to enter and matriculate Student applications.  This module primarily impacts the core offices that process student applications, which include:

  • Undergraduate Admissions
  • Graduate Admissions
  • Continuing & Professional Studies (CPS)

Each of these core offices will utilize SA to complete their specific business processes.  As such, each office has its own set of processes and decisions that need to be considered and integrated into SA.  Separate tasks and teams of individuals have been identified for each of the Core Admissions Offices.  The specific teams, and explanations of tasks and timelines are broken down by Admissions Core Offices.  Select from the navigation menu on the left to view specific information for each of the Core offices listed above.

Success Stories

In January 2007, the campus successfully launched the Recruitment module.  The Offices of Undergraduate Admissions, Graduate Enrollment and Continuing and Professional Studies are currently using SA Recruitment to manage its Fall 2009 and beyond prospects and are enjoying the many benefits of the new system which include:

  • Through the use of identifying potential students as a suspect, as well as a prospect and inquirer, we are better able to target communications.
  • Follow-up to students request for materials are now personalized with an individual checklists indicating the items which are included in the mailing.
  • With the loading of PSAT names, files that previously were included in a near miss report are now held in suspense and through the use of search match criteria most are then automatically loaded into the system.  This allows for more students to be actively recruited and an increase in staff efficiency in doing so
  • The stand-alone parent database that existed outside of the old recruit system has been eliminated.  This data is now captured in PeopleSoft Recruit and associated with the respective student.
  • The query of data allows staff greater access and ease to information.  Downloads are no longer required and the querying of data actually occurs in PeopleSoft Recruit.
  • Information now that is part of PeopleSoft Recruit will be "rolled over" to Admissions thus eliminating the need for duplication of data entry.
