- Academic Career — High-level distinction between types of students. Legacy Term: Academic Level Examples: UGRAD, GRAD, Non-Credit.
- Academic Group — School or college within an academic institution. Legacy Term: College. Examples: College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.
- Academic Institution — A term describing the University as a whole. Example: UMBC.
- Academic Level — Examples: Freshmen, Junior, Graduate Student.
- Academic Load — The amount of credit hours a student will be expected to take or is taking. Examples: Full-Time, Part-Time, etc.
- Academic Organization — Academic Departments. Example: Mathematics.
- Academic Plan — An area of study that exists within an academic program or academic career. Legacy Term: Major, Minor, Certificate or Graduate Program. Examples: Bio Chemistry, Physics, Sociology, Gerontology.
- Academic Program — In addition to an Academic Career and Academic Plan, each student is also attached to an Academic Program in SA. Examples: UG Degree Seeking, UG Non Degree Seeking, Certificate Program, Grad Degree Seeking, Grad Non Degree Seeking.
- Academic Sub-plan — An area of specialization within an academic plan. Sub-plans must be tied to plans. Legacy Term: Concentration or Track. Examples: Clinical Psychology (within Human Services Psychology) or Literature Track (within English - BA).
- Academic Subject — A subject is a grouping of courses that share similar subject matter. Examples: Accounting, French
- Admit Type — Indicates the classification of admission for an application. Examples: TRN = Transfer, FRS = Freshman, PB = Post-Baccalaureate , etc.
