How do liaisons place orders?

How do liaisons place orders?

Answer

There are two ways to order materials for the library:

  • Click on the  "Library Book Request Form" on the Library homepage to log into the book request system  https://library.umbc.edu/bookorder/selector/bookapproveactions.php. As a liaison you should log into the system using your UMBC username and password. If you are not logged in to the system when you place orders, you'll have to log in later to approve them. Click on "Order a Book". Fill out the form as completely as possible then click "Send Request Now".  Remember to change the format which otherwise automatically defaults to books.  Order monographs, both in print and electronic, as well as media materials through this form.

  • Order materials through the library's approval vendor, Yankee Book Peddler's, GOBI website at http://www.gobi3.com/Pages/Login.aspx. Approval plan orderings is an extremely efficient method of ordering because all of the information is provided for you, completely eliminating the need for both filling out forms and finding books to order. Departments have set up subject profiles to reflect the types of materials they are interested in.  Notification lists of titles that match the profiles are sent weekly to departmental liaisons for selection and review. You can order both print and ebooks through the GOBI website.  In depth instructions are here:  http://aok.lib.umbc.edu/collmanagement/cmbna.php

  • For information on either ordering process contact Robin Moskal, the Collection Management Librarian, at X5-2341 or at Moskal@umbc.edu.
