Why do I have a late fee on my account?
Tell Me
A late fee is charged if your bill is not paid by the due date. UMBC's Late Fee Waiver Policy lists specific requirements necessary for late fee removal.
Late Payment Fee
A late payment fee of 5% of the past due balance (minimum late fee of $10, maximum $200) will be charged the first time that an account becomes past due for the term.
An additional late payment fee of 1% of the past due balance (minimum late fee of $10, maximum $200) will be charged each month that charges remain past due for the term.
Late payment fees are non-refundable.
Late Registration Fee
A $20 late registration fee is charged when students register for classes starting on the first day of the term or anytime thereafter.
Late registration fees are non-refundable.
Will I be charged a late fee if I have pending financial aid?
If the pending financial aid is visible on myUMBC and reflected on your e-bill and it is enough to cover your bill, you will not be charged a late fee. If your pending aid is less than the total due, you must pay the difference by the due date of your e-bill to avoid late fees.
