Tell Me

Depending on the version of Android, the wording of the steps below may be slightly different on your device.

If your phone is running Android 11 or newer, you will need to follow the steps contained within How do I setup my Android device running Android 11 to connect to the UMBC eduroam wireless network?

  1. To connect your Android OS device to the UMBC eduroam network:

  2. Click the Settings application.
  3. Choose Wireless & Networks.
  4. Select Wi-Fi Settings.
  5. Click on the eduroam network
  6. If presented with a Credentials Manager password prompt, enter your Droid Credentials Manager password.  (This is not your myUMBC password.  If you do not know the Credentials Manager password, clear it by going to Settings > Location and Security > Clear storage, then repeat steps 2-4.)
  7. If option to select EAP method is available, select "PEAP".
  8. If option for CA certificate or to Validate Certificate is presented select "Do not validate".
  9. Enter your full UMBC email address (username@umbc.edu, for example) in the Identity field.
  10. Leave the Anonymous Identity field blank.
  11. Enter your myUMBC password in the Wireless password field.
  12. Click Connect.

Note: A sample image shown below.

Once you have connected to the eduroam network, you should remove UMBC Visitor and/or UMBC Campus from your wifi settings, or your device could still try to connect to those networks under some circumstances.

  1. From the menu select "Settings" and go to "WLAN"
  2. Long press the network profile that you want to delete.
  3. Select forget network from the popup that appears and it will delete the network profile.
