Automated Setup (recommended):

On your Chromebook, visit https://cat.eduroam.org/?idp=248&profile=346 and follow the instructions listed for ChromeOS. When you are prompted to enter your username and password, be sure to enter your complete email address ending in "@umbc.edu".

Manual Instructions:

We recommend that you try the automated setup above. If you use the manual instructions below, you may have to reconfirm settings each year when the encryption certificate is updated.

To manually set up Eduroam on your Chromebook, follow the instructions below:

  1. Click the Wi-Fi icon on the bottom right side of the screen.
  2. Open the dropdown menu next to Select a network (or whichever Wi-Fi network you are currently connected to such as UMBC Visitor or UMBC Campus).
  3. Choose Eduroam and the Join Wi-Fi network box will open. 
  4. Settings are as follows:
    1. SSID: eduroam
      EAP Method: PEAP
      Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPv2
      Server CA Certificate: Default
      User Certificate: None Installed
      Identity: username@umbc.edu (be sure to include @umbc.edu)
      Password: Use your myUMBC password
      Anonymous identity: Leave blank
  5. Click Connect.

Note: If you can’t connect, please delete eduroam from your known networks and then manually add it again with the above settings.
