GenLab/Modeling/Adobe Pools
You can control certain aspects of your desktop using the menu bar at the top of your eLumin desktop instance. From right to left as marked on the below screen-cap:
- You can Log-Off the desktop from the Profile menu.
- You can launch the desktop into fullscreen mode (press ESC to exit).
- You can adjust the settings on your virtual desktop connection (including mounting your local microphone).
- You can copy and paste content from your local computer into/from the desktop.
- You can mount and access UMBC provisioned cloud storage, including Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive.
GenStaff Pool
The GenStaff pool utilizes an application-view interface, rather than a full desktop experience available in other pools. Upon log-in you are presented with a variety of applications that you can launch individually. One of the applications in the initial selection must be selected to launch the desktop, after which the full application catalogue will be available.
Once an initial application is launched, the menu bar becomes available at the top of your desktop instance, as in the GenLab/Modeling/Adobe pools.
To launch another application, use the 4-square icon on the far-left of the menu bar and choose an application from the drop-down menu.
The "Switch Windows" icon, directly to the right of the application catalog drop-down, allows you to toggle between open apps (like an alt-tab on a local PC).
Printing to Your Local Printer from the Virtual Desktop
1) Open the Print utility within the application you need to print from.
2) In the Print Dialogue window that appears, select DCV Printer as the destination printer and click Print to proceed.
3) The document you printed will then appear in a new tab in your local web browser. From here you can print directly to printers available on your local device.
