Authors
*When working on a set of a particular faculty member's works, always handle that person a UMBC author weather they're affiliation is given on the work as UMBC or not.
- Open the record and work. Determine which author list will copy and paste most cleanly.
- Copy and paste the author list to Word and clean it up. Pasting using "text only" can help clean up images embedded in the list of authors. You can use find and replace to remove digits and paragraph marks by clicking more and using the special drop-down.
- If there are more than 20 authors, in the description column, put "Authors" followed by the full cleaned list of authors, and in the authors that are et al column, put "et al".
- If there are less than 20 authors, copy and paste the cleaned list of authors to the authors column.
- Go back to the record and work and find the affiliations of the authors, and determine which authors are affiliated with UMBC. Highlight the UMBC authors in the author list in Word.
- If there are more than 20 authors, reduce the author list in Word down to the first 4 authors plus all UMBC authors. Remember that the when working on a set of a particular faculty member's works to keep that person in the shortened author list. Copy and paste the this author list into the author column.

*If there's no faculty member who was affiliated with UMBC when the work was written, do not include it in the faculty collection.
*When working on a set of a particular faculty member's work, always put the abbreviation for their department in the collections column.
- Check the work itself for departmental affiliations and any info about the status of each author.
