Questions and Answers about the Wiki
I'm creating a page for MHCC members who have questions about the wiki -- whether it is how to find things, how to edit, random questions (e.g.: "Is it appropriate to create an MHCC Favorite Recipes page?"), etc. Naturally you can still email Lindsey or other members for help, and if a question gets asked often enough someone will write a "How To" page. My hope is that eventually we'll have a running list of Q&A that will be helpful for new members of MHCC and/or people who are new to wiki.
You will have to be willing to edit this page in order to post a new question, or to provide an answer to someone else's questions. I haven't found a fancy format to template questions and answers, so we'll just use a simple block surrounded by lines as the template.

How do I add a question to this page?
ANSWER:
You need to be logged in before you can edit anything. If you look at the top of this page and it says "Welcome" and then your name or id, you are logged in. If not, you'll have to click on Log In and authenticate yourself first. If you see Log Out at your top left, you are ready to go.
Click on Page Operations -> Edit on the left-side menu.
Using ordinary web browser mouse gestures, copy the blank template from the top and paste it just below the blank template. This will create a new template at the top of all the others.
Position your mouse pointer on the blank line below "QUESTION:" and begin typing. The default is a Rich Text editor that will let you format and do bullets and such. If you want to use Wiki Markup instead, there is a tab near the top of the editing block.
When you think you have finished, click on Preview to make sure that it looks the way you want it to. When you are happy, click on Save and the edited question will be posted.
Be not afraid of doing damage! Think of this (and other open wiki pages) like a public blackboard where everyone is allowed to write notes, draw pictures, edit others' notes, annotate pictures, even erase the whole board clean. This particular type of blackboard has a history/backup mechanism, so if you mess up, or erase someone else's work by mistake, it can always be restored.
