Which course should I register for after taking the math placement test?
All Math Placement Test scores are tied to a specific milestone that allows you to register for classes. Some UMBC majors require you to take Calculus, but others do not. This webpage can help you determine the Math course needed for your major.
If you are in a major which requires Calculus (MATH 150/155/151), you are on the Calculus Path. If your major does not require Calculus, you are on the Non-Calculus Path. Non-Calculus path students can enroll in MATH 104 without a math placement test score.
Non-Calculus Path | Math Placement Milestone Level and Placement Test Score | Calculus Path |
MATH 104 | Milestone Level 1 | Retake Math Placement Test |
MATH 104 | Milestone Level 2 | MATH 106 |
MATH 120, MATH 131, MATH 132, or STAT 121 | Milestone Level 3 | MATH 106 |
MATH 120, MATH 131, MATH 132, or STAT 121 | Milestone Level 4 | MATH 150, MATH 155 |
MATH 120, MATH 131, MATH 132, or STAT 121 | Milestone Level 5 | MATH 151, MATH 155, MATH 215 |
