Watch Video Tutorial on Webex Webinars

Tell Me

Webex Webinars makes hosting an online event easy. This application is linked to UMBC’s Webex account and everyone in the UMBC community has access to it via umbc.webex.com. Whether you're holding a town hall or hosting a virtual open house, you can deliver a polished, interactive presentation with multimedia, Q&A, and polling to engage your audience.

Webex Webinars provides more controls, enabling you to deliver formal events for many attendees with confidence while providing an interactive experience for attendees. You can also customize the registration form for a more friendly, informative sign-up collecting the information you need about your attendees.

Webex Webinars involves a host, presenter, panelist(s), and attendees:

  • A Host has control over every aspect of the event and can change the roles of people in the meeting at any time.
  • A host is the Presenter by default, which gives the ability to share your screen. Presenter privileges can be passed to panelists by right-clicking on their name or dragging the blue presenter ball.
  • Panelists have the ability to share audio and video by default.
  • Attendees automatically join the event as passive listeners - they cannot unmute their microphones or share their video unless a host allows them to.

Before your event, get familiar with how to schedule an event and know the basics of Webex Webinars . Webex Webinars is not the same as Webex Meetings - scheduling an event and being an event host requires practice. We recommend running a test session with the host and panelists prior to running the actual event.

Open up the event early and start a practice session so that attendees joining early don’t hear the host and panelists getting ready to go live. Once you start the event, we recommend using the interactive features Webex Webinars provides, such as feedbackQ&A, and polling to keep attendees engaged. Don’t forget to record the event.

After the event, distribute post-event surveys and analyze results, send emails with a link to the recording, and run reports on live and recorded event stats.
