UMBC students who wish to use a chosen name will have the ability to indicate or update a chosen name using myUMBC and the profile page.

Follow These Steps
- Login to myUMBC.
- Click your avatar in the top right-hand corner.
- Click View Profile.
- Under the About card, click View More.
- Scroll down to the Personal Info section, until you see Preferred Name, and select Edit.
- You will be redirected to the "Personal Information" page. Here you will be see a list of primary and preferred names we have on file for you. Your primary name appears on official UMBC documents, including transcripts and diplomas. If you need to update this information, please contact the Registrar's Office.

8. In the First Name field, enter your preferred name.
Important:
You will only be able to change your preferred first name. If you wish to update your last name, you must complete the Personal Information Update form in the Registrar's Office.

10. You will now see a save confirmation. Select to be taken back to the main personal information page.
11. You will now see your preferred name listed.
