Once a student is adds themselves to a waitlist, an enrollment process is ran hourly and enrolls students based on seat availability and their waitlist position. Although students are made aware of their position number at the time of being placed on the waitlist, students may always check their position number in their class schedule in myUMBC.

There are various scenarios that could prevent enrollment from waitlist. They can include the following, but not limited to:

  • The waitlisted course has a time conflict with another class that the student is already enrolled in.
  • The student has not met prerequisite requirements for the class.
  • There is a financial hold (negative service indicator) on the student's account at the time of enrollment.
  • The student is enrolled in the maximum number of credits for the semester. The student will need to complete the Excess Credit form the Office for Academic and Pre-Professional Advising.
