Single Sign-on
UMBC uses a single sign-on service which allows users to provide their myUMBC username and password once to a trusted service (Blackboard, myUMBC, and Peoplesoft) and to have their identity securely, consistently and seamlessly provided to many web applications.
Password Requirements
IMPORTANT: The password requirements are, it needs to be a minimum of 8 characters in length and meet the following conditions:
- Upper case letters
- Lower case letters
- Numeric characters (0-9)
- Special characters ( $,@,!,% )
- Use words and phrases that are easy for you to remember, but difficult for others to guess
Security Questions
myUMBC accounts have a self-service password reset facility - this lets you choose a new password if you ever forget the old one. The reset facility uses a secret security question (e.g. "name of your first pet") and answer (e.g. "hunter bean") that you set up as part of the account activation process.
Setup Security Questions
- Login to myUMBC
- Click your name displayed above the Search
- Click Profile from the dropdown menu
- In the Online Info section, click Security Questions link
- Click the button to Edit your Security Settings
- Provide the information as prompted
- Alternate e-mail address
- Mobile Phone
- Choose three security questions, and then create answers that you will remember
- Click Update my Security Settings to save the changes you made
