There are three potential reasons for missing scrollbars in the Blackboard grade center:

Most of the scrollbar issues can be resolved by the user making changes to their operating system or browser settings.

Oversized Font (Windows Vista)

  1. Log out of Blackboard and myUMBC.
  2. Close your web browser completely.
  3. Open the Windows Control Panel.
  4. Click Change the Theme under Appearances & Personalization.
  5. Click Window Color.
  6. Click Advanced Appearance Settings.
  7. Select Scrollbar from the dropdown menu.

  8. Select a number less than 20 from the Size: option.
    • 17 is the default value, but 19 may be sufficient to restore the scrollbar.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Close any open control panel windows.
  11. Reopen your web browser and log into Blackboard.

File Explorer Preferences (Mac)

  1. Click the Apple icon in the upper left corner.
  2. Select System Preferences.

  3. Click the General category from the top row.

  4. In section labels Show Scroll Bars, select ALWAYS.

  5. Close the open System Preference window to save.

Known Issue: Vertical Scroll Bar in the Grade Center is Missing or too Small to Use

If the vertical scroll bar in the course's full Grade Center is either missing, or so small that it's unusable, please try:

  1. Shrink your browser window.
  2. Increase the size by expanding the right side until the scroll bar is visible again.

A fix is targeted for a future release, but no timeline has been identified.
