Other languages  must already be activated - see How do I change my keyboard to another language?

PC, Windows 7

  1. Go to Start >Control Panel> Ease of Access > Ease of Access Center.
  2. Click the Start On-Screen Keyboard option.
  3. Select the Options button, on lower right to customize the way the on-screen keyboard works on your PC.

MAC,  OSX 10.7

  1. open program you will be using
  2. switch keyboard by clicking on the America flag at the top right - down arrow to language needed
  3. return to  flag/keyboard menu and select Show Keyboard Viewer - a virtual keyboard will open.
    If not available, click on open Language and Text Preferences then click Input Source Tab, put check in Keyboard & Character Viewer.
    Press the Shift, Option or Shift + Option for hot keys( e.g. accents) - may appear yellow in newer versions
