Before You Begin...

Permission numbers are provided to a student by an instructor when a student does not meet the prerequisites to take a class.  Click here for additional information about class permissions.

Once a student is given a permission number, they must then use the number when registering for your class.  If possible, you should also provide the student with your class number to expedite the registration process for the student and ensure they register for the correct class.

titleStep by Step
  1. From myUMBC, select Topics > Classes & Grades.
  2. Select the Student Schedule & Registration link. The registration page in PeopleSoft is opened.
  3. Select the term for which you want to register.
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Click the Enroll Tab and then the Add Tab.
  6. If you know the class number for the desired class, type it in the Enter Class Nbr field and hit Enter.
  7. Select the Class Preferences that apply, which includes entering the permission number into the Permission Nbr field.
  8. Click Next.
  9. When ready to finish enrolling, click Proceed to Step 2 of 3.
  10. Confirm the selections and click Finish Enrolling.

 

 
  1. Follow the instructions for adding a class
  2. If the course is configured for permission numbers, a box to enter your permission number will be displayed on the enrollment options window. 
  3. Complete enrollment as described in the instructions for adding a class.
