Each shell in Blackboard is restricted to a size limitation limit of 500 MBs. You will automatically receive the error notification from Blackboard each day if your course has exceeded the size limit and you will no longer be able to upload any additional items to your course.

There is also a 100 MB (per file) quota for any file that you upload to Blackboard.  

These quotas are necessary to properly manage storage resources and ensure adequate system performance.
