Go to https://rt.umbc.edu/

  • Click on the "Preferences" link Under your name at the top -right of the page
    Image RemovedSelect "Settings" from the menu links at the top of the page (this should be the default selection)

      • Default Queue (optional) - this is the default for submitting tickets. Recommend selecting Library-IT Support
      • Username format - set to Name and email address
      • WYSISYG message composer - set to No
      • Search results refresh interval - set to Refresh search results every 20 minutes

    • RT at a glance
      • Home page refresh interval - set to Refresh home page every 20 minutes
    • Scroll to bottom of page and click on "Save Changes"

  • Select "About Me" from the menu links Under your name at the top of the page, click on Settings > About me
    • Identity
      • Make sure name and e-mail are correct

    • Phone Numbers
      • Enter your Work phone number

    • Location (optional)
      • Organization - enter Library
      • Address 1 - enter Library
      • Address 2 - enter 155

    • Signature (optional)
      • Enter signature you would like to attach to all tickets you submit or reply to

    • Scroll to bottom of page and click on "Save Changes"

  • Select "RT at a Glance" from the menu links Under your name at the top of the page, click on Settings > RT at a Glance
    • RT at a glance: body


      • In the right-hand window, select and delete everything except "Quicksearch" and "Saved Search: Library-Reference Open Tickets"
      • If "Saved Search: Library-Reference Open Tickets" isn't in the right-hand window, in the left-hand window, select "Saved Search: Library-Reference Open Tickets" and click on the right arrow to move to the right-hand window.

    • RT at a glance: summary
      • In the right-hand window, select and delete everything
    In the left-hand menu, click on "RT at a glance"
    • In the top-right corner of the Quick search box, click on "Edit"

      • OPTIONAL: add "My Open Tickets" and "My Closed Tickets" to track tickets you have submitted

  • Under your name at the top of the page, click on Settings > Quick Search
    • Remove checks from all queues except Library-Reference
    • Click on Save

  • In the left-hand top menu , click on "RT at a glanceHome" 
    • Your page should look like this:
