Attendance

  • Matt Lastner

  • Jackson Ames

  • Onkar Rekhi

  • Roy Prouty

Date & Time

1930-2245

Spaces Occupied

  • PHYS 401
  • Control room
  • Dome (minimal, just opened and closed dome)

Goals

Figure out issues with FireNex-5000H+ USB 3.0 optical repeater and perform CMOS observations over fiber line.

Work to enable communication between TheSkyX Professional on data computer with TCS Computer.

Action Items

  • Get new fiber line (waiting on discussion with Eileen)
    • Onkar: We could get fiber line from FireNex
  • Get feedback from FireNex Tech support (Onkar emailed)
  • Get RS-232 Cable else Serial to USB adapter (get link from Jackson)
  • Fix door leg thingy

Notes

  1. Software is not soft
  2. On TCS Computer: Profile Explorer in ASCOM related folder allows us to look at mount/telescope details. This information may be required by data computer to facilitate data - TCS computer communication. UNSURE/
  3. Actual ASCOM profile for our telescope is in file: POTH.telescope. This seems to be aliased to "DFM Telescope" in TheSky6. Not sure where this connects to the POTH profile on the backend.
  4. Matt and Roy did some integrals.
  5. Onkar notes that we get the same error from the FireNex system on Windows 10 & Windows 11.
  6. Roy wants to cover the desk with drop cloth to avoid dusty bits.
  7. Observatory Meetin

Spaces Occupied

  • PHYS 401
  • Control Room (War Room)
  • Dome

Goals

  • Setup Fiber-USB Repeater Boxes on Data Computer
  • Test CMOS Camera over Fiber Line
  • Install 10Gbs Network PCI Card
  • Cable Management (Control Room and Dome)
  • Install Software
    • From Software Bisque (TheSkyX-Professional)
    • Blue Iris Security Software
  • Run through minimal working pipeline for observation

Action Items

  • Work with Erik to mount pedestal cable box

Notes

  1. USB-A to USB-B 3.0 data cable for CMOS is too short to reach remote fiber repeater box if repeater box is mounter within or on pedestal cable box.
  2. Fiber line is broken near remote end.
  3. Stole fiber line from ENGR DC
  4. Stole ethernet patch cables from ENGR DC
