Joe Clark, Janet Hack, and Susan Graham met 8/4/09 to discuss promoting the launch of the Digital Collections site.

Roll Out Dates / Schedule for actions

  • Late August: Janet will put links to Digital Collections site on Library site & in RefDBs

    • Library homepage

    • Under Special Collections tab in Quick Search Box

    • On Special Collections page

    • On Imcat search page (until PastPerfect Online is up and running, we will have to continue to use Imcat)

    • On Photography page (where the current Digital Images link is)

  • 1st week of September:  training to Library staff

  • Mid-September:  full launch; advertising campaign begins

    • Promotional Campaign

      • myUMBC spotlight (need to get this to them 2 weeks before it appears)

      • Library Blog

      • Insights Weekly

      • Retriever article

      • Library homepage spotlight

      • Feature on Special Collections page

      • Feature on Digital Signage in Media and SC

      • Featured site by OCLC

  • 2 weeks after launch:  1st faculty/staff training (thru HR site)

  • 4 weeks after launch:  2nd faculty/staff training (thru HR site)

  • A student training during free hour in October

    • Advertise this as an "Event" in myUMBC Spotlight

    • Send notice to Visual Arts, History, and American Studies faculty to announce to their students

    • Send notice to SGA email

To Do

  • JH will put links on site.

  • JH will discuss with Reference and Instruction Librarians about showing Digital Collections during B.I. sessions to pertinent classes.

  • SG will write short description of CONTENTdm/Digital Collections for RefDBs and Imcat.

  • Lindsey is meeting w/Retriever folks and will inform them of the article.  SG and LL will be interviewed possibly.

  • SG will ask Vicki what dates she is available to help do the training (BOTH to Library fac/staff and UMBC general fac/staff)

  • JC will give our dates to be included with ILWG dates to HR site.

  • JC will make slide for digital signage.

  • Write myUMBC Spotlight piece (SG?)

  • Write Insights Weekly piece (SG?)

  • Write Library blog entry

  • SG will add feature on Spec. Coll. website.
