How do I access and use Poll Everywhere as a student?

Note

Responding to Polls without using your UMBC sign-on will prevent your responses from syncing with Blackboard. If your instructor uses Poll Everywhere for attendance, quizzing, participation, or another form of assessment, your responses will only be recorded if you are using your UMBC account.

Note: Your UMBC Poll Everywhere account email address will be your campusID@umbc.edu. Do not modify or edit your Poll Everywhere account email address, as doing so will prevent your responses from syncing with Blackboard.

For quick, regular access to Poll Everywhere, itʼs best to download and install the associated
participant response apps:

If you plan to use a mobile device to respond to Poll Everywhere activities, it's recommended that students download the Poll Everywhere app before Poll Everywhere activities are used in class.

Why can't I access an active poll during class?

Poll Everywhere from a Browser

Tell Me

  1. Login to Poll Everywhere using your UMBC credentials (campusid@umbc.edu) by going directly to http://umbc.edu/go/pollev

     

  2. If you go directly to polleverywhere.com instead of using the direct link above, choose "Log in."


     

  3. Enter your UMBC credentials (campusid@umbc.edu).


     

  4. Choose "Log in with UMBC" and sign in with your UMBC credentials.

     

  5. During class, an instructor may display a Poll Everywhere activity on-screen. The visualization will display the instructorʼs username for you to be able to join: pollev.com/username.

  6. From your phone, laptop, or tablet you will enter the web address and be taken to a screen that allows you to respond to the activity in real time.

Poll Everywhere from a Mobile App

Tell Me

  1. Launch the Poll Everywhere mobile app.

     

  2. Choose "Login" in the bottom right corner of the app.


     

     

  3. Enter your UMBC credentials (campusid@umbc.edu) in the "Email or username" field and select "Next."


     

  4. Select "Log in with UMBC" and sign in with your UMBC credentials.

  5. During class, an instructor may display a Poll Everywhere activity on-screen. The visualization will display the instructorʼs username for you to be able to join: pollev.com/username.


  6. Once login is complete, return to the "Home" section of the app and enter the poll username to respond to the poll.
