How do I operate Lecture Capture classroom technology?

Lecture Capture - These classrooms are outfitted with a video camera and microphones suitable for synchronous instruction to live broadcast or record a lecture for online students. Student video and audio are NOT captured into the live broadcast.

  • This FAQ refers to Lecture Capture classroom technology found in various rooms around campus.
  • If you would like training on these systems, please submit an RT Ticket to set up training and indicate which room you are scheduled in. A practice session before the first class is highly recommended.

Tell Me

  1. Power On the system by pressing anywhere on the touch panel

  2. Choose your video conferencing source by pressing the device at the top of the touch panel – Laptop or Local PC.



  3. If you are using your laptop, connect the HDMI cable and the USB cable on the podium to your laptop.

  4. Select your video conferencing platform below to see instructions: Blackboard Collaborate, Webex, or Zoom
    Microphone – Shure P300 IMX
    Speakers – Extron ScalerD
    Video - USB Capture HDMI+ for the instructor camera OR EPSON ELPDC21 for the document camera

  5. Please Power Off the system when you are done.



Blackboard Collaborate Instructions

  1. Select the following for your audio and video settings:
    • Audio Settings
      • Microphone – Shure P300 IMX






      • Speakers – Extron HDMI
        • If your output device does not default to the room speakers, adjust your sound output by going into your computer sound settings and selecting Extron HDMI as your output device
    • Video Options - Note that these may appear differently based on the computer used – preview each camera feed by selecting it as your video option.
        • Rear Camera for Instructor – USB Capture HDMI+
        • Document Camera - Epson ELPDC21


  2. Adjust either camera’s preset or position using Camera Settings on the touch panel.
  3. PLEASE POWER OFF the system when you are done



Webex Instructions

  1. Select the following for your audio and video settings:
    • Audio Settings
