Save a Blackboard Ultra test or assignment as a PDF

Instructors often take advantage of Blackboard's assignment and test functionality to deliver these items online, instead of providing print copies. However, there may be a few instances where the instructor needs either a PDF for their own records or to even print out the assignment.

Directions only for Google Chrome

This FAQ will outline the steps how to create an easy-to-read version of your assignment from Blackboard, but it is important to note that you will need to be using Google Chrome.

1. Open the assessment in your Blackboard course.

2. Scroll to the very bottom of your assessment.

3. Highlight the very last word, then scroll up to the very top of the assessment.

4. While your selection is still highlighted, locate the Print menu. Note: this step may vary depending on the operating system and version of Chrome. (On macOS, go to File > Print...)

5. Change the Destination to "Save as PDF." Then click "More Settings"

6. Ensure that the only checkbox selected is "Selection only." Then, click save.

USE CASES

USE CASES

  • A student contacts an instructor and lets them know they will not have access to technology for some time, and will be unable to complete the assignment online. If approved, the instructor can print out the assignment.

  • The Undergraduate Academic Conduct Committee is requesting copies of the assessment under review for a violation of academic integrity.

  • The student has a visual impairment that using computer screens proves challenging, and requests a physical copy of the assignment.

Students can use this tool too!

Instructors: you should note that students will also have this ability when viewing their assignments. To prevent students from saving and printing assessments like this, consider using the Respondus Lockdown Browser
