Where is my course on the Courses page?

On the Courses page, you can access all of your courses whether they are Original or Ultra course view.  Courses are associated with academic or administrative codes known as terms.

  • Semester-based terms such as spring, summer, fall, and winter.
These courses will have labels on the Current Courses page when they are available and they will also appear on their own term page. These terms have a start and end date.

  • Organization- or purpose-based such as training or course development
These courses are usually set to continuous, which means they will always appear on the Current Courses page. They will also appear on their own term page.

Navigating the Courses Page

  1. Use the arrows at the top of the course page to navigate to the appropriate term.

  2. Click on Current Courses to change the filter to another term.

  3. Use the search field to look for your courses.

If the course appears on a separate term course page before the semester starts, then it will move to the Current Courses page after it is made available. After the course is completed, it should move back to its specific term page (e.g., Spring 2022, Summer 2023).

Additional Tips

A course is defined by the term dates and/or the availability. Anyone can view a list of all of their courses, whether the course is available or not.

  • Private: Only the instructor or course builder can access it. Students will see the course listed until it is open.

  • Open/Available: Students can access the content and engage with content.

  • Complete: The course is accessible by students, but in a read-only state.

  • Hide: The course is removed from your view on the courses page. Students cannot hide or remove courses.

  • Favorite: Mark a course as preferred to list it higher on the Courses page.

About the Course Cards

Original courses are indicated by a gray bar with the label "Original Course View" while Ultra courses have a color bar. You cannot choose the color for the course card. Each course card lists the course title and instructor.

  • If your course has multiple instructors, select View all for a list.

  • To review the courseID, click More info. Please note: Course descriptions are not loaded at this time by the course creation process.

Browsing the Course Catalog

You can use the course catalog to browse the courses offered at UMBC. You can find the Course Catalog link on the top right corner of the Courses page. Some courses allow you to self-enroll.

In the catalog, you can search for courses based on these fields:

  • Course ID

  • Course Name

  • Course Description

  • Course Instructor

  • Course Term

Select Go to start your search. If your list of results is too long, you can refine the results using the Creation Date filter. Choose a date and whether the course you're looking for was created before or after that date.
