What happens to student data in Blackboard when a student drops a course?

After a student officially drops a course through PeopleSoft (e.g., course schedule change, withdrawal, etc.), the student will be disabled in the Blackboard course within 24 hours. A disabled status means the student will no longer see the course in their account or receive course notifications and the instructor will no longer see the student in the grade center or roster. However, any course data (e.g., discussion board postings, test or assignment submissions, and grades) for the student is retained up to the point when the course was dropped.

If instructors need to obtain course data for previously enrolled students related to an academic purpose (e.g., grade review, retention, accreditation, research, etc.), they will need to submit this request via an RT ticket. Requests will be granted on a case-by-case basis. Students cannot be permanently re-enabled in a Blackboard course if it is in conflict with official enrollment records.
