How do I register for classes using Schedule Builder?

Open your preferred Internet browser.

Go to http://my.umbc.edu

Click Login.

If you are already logged into myUMBC, your name will be displayed on the top, right-hand corner of the screen. To the left of the log-out.

Click Profile on the menu bar at the top of the page.

Click Registration in the left link menu.

Click the Schedule Builder link.

The Schedule Builder page allows students to enter a variety of information to find courses that best fit their schedule for the upcoming term. All filters are optional except for Term, Subject, and Catalog Number.

  • Term: Select the term for which you are searching for classes.

  • Availability

    • Start and End Date: Enter a start and end date for your availability. The earliest and latest dates available will be the start and end dates for the term.

    • Unavailable Time: Use this option to block out times that you do not want to take classes. This could be due to work schedules, student organization meetings, or other personal reasons.

    • Minimum Break Time: Enter the shortest time between classes that you would like to have.

  • Global Filters and Section Filters work exactly the same as they do in Class Search.

  • Course Selection: Enter the subject and catalog number for the class that you want to add to your schedule. You can select specific sections in a later step.

Select at least one course and click Add Course

Once you have added all of the courses you plan to take, click Build Schedule. You may also take the opportunity to refine your selections to specific sections of each course by clicking Select Sections prior to building your schedule.

Using the Prev and Next options, scroll through all of the possible schedules to find the one that suits you best. When you find the schedule you want, click Enroll

Check the boxes next to each class to confirm you wish to enroll in all displayed classes. Then click Enroll.

Select the enrollment options you want for each course. Selections will include grading method and whether or not you want to waitlist the class if it is full.

When you have selected options for all courses a green check box will display next to each course. Click Enroll

This completes the enrollment process. You will see enrollment status, as well as any warning or error messages associated with each class if applicable.
